Who are these courses suitable for?
These courses are suitable for anyone who wants to work in Social Care in either local authority or private care environments. They are also suitable for qualiﬁed practitioners who have not covered dementia care in previous qualiﬁcations.
What are the entry requirements?
You should be at least 16 years old.
It would be helpful if you also have some basic knowledge of caring.
How many credits are required to complete these courses?
The Award requires 8 credits and the Certiﬁcate requires 18 credits.
How will I be assessed?
They will be assessed by your tutor or assessor using a range of methods. This could include direct observation in the workplace, a portfolio of evidence, written assignments or a task set by DaC Childcare Training.
Do I need to be working to take these qualifications?
To complete the Award you do not need to be working as it is a knowledge only qualiﬁcation.
To take the Certiﬁcate you will need to be working, volunteering or on practical placement as you need to show competence in both knowledge and skills.
How long do they take to complete?
You can usually complete them in 6 months or less.
What related qualifications can I progress to?
Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care or the Level 3 Dementia qualiﬁcations.
